Can I get broadband?
BT IS BRINGING BROADBAND TO ALL PARTS OF THE
UK. ADSL BROADBAND SERVICES NOW REACH 80 PER CENT OF
ALL UK HOMES.
By using the Broadband Availability Checker on BT's
website you can find out if you are one of the millions
of people at home and at work who can now experience
at first hand the benefits of feature rich content and
fast internet access.
Can I get broadband now?
Probably, but you have to check. Simply enter
your postcode here. Once you have checked you can
see a list of service provider companies who offer a
variety of broadband services and who will sign you
up for broadband.
What if I can't get broadband?
The Broadband Availability Checker does not automatically
register your interest in receiving broadband services.
After checking your number, follow the ‘What to
do next’ link to sign up with a service provider.
Signing up does not involve using a credit card or making
a payment.
The Broadband Availability Checker provides only an
assessment of the likelihood of being able to receive
broadband at your home or office.
ADSL can only offer broadband data speeds where the
telephone line between the home or office and the telephone
exchange is a maximum of 5.5km - just over three miles
- long. From late Summer 2003, we plan to extend the
reach of ADSL broadband. This means that around 97 per
cent of houses on enabled exchanges will be able to
receive services. The proposed launch will be confirmed
in September, subject to a pilot that is running throughout
July and August. Your line will also have to pass further
technical checks.
